Yamini Walia visited Spriha and tells you whether it delivers what it promises – jewelled timepieces to add finesse to your watch collection

Imagine being able to customise your watches according to your clothes — the thought of it sounds extremely promising, doesn’t it? Since this is what Spriha offers, I jumped at the opportunity of checking out their watches.

The brand came into existence in December last year and focuses on manufacturing hand-crafted timepieces. Pinal Jain and Shweta Totla, founders of Spriha, started the brand with the aim of providing customers with a beautiful opportunity to seize time, in their choice of colours, stones and crystals.

Their current collection comprises of semi-precious gem stones, natural stones, kundans, enamel work, wood, crystals and bamboo pieces. Spriha provides high quality cases and dials, which are designed and crafted by eminent manufacturers. The watches are equipped with Japan Quartz and Swiss watch movements.

Spriha has a small counter inside a retail shop called Mogra, in High Street Phoenix. I expected the brand to have its own store, but since it’s a collaboration, I understood why they displayed the watches inside another store. However, the display is quite limited, so you don’t have too many options to choose from. Also, the watches are more suitable for traditional outfits than daily or western wear.

When it comes to the process of personalisation, I was impressed by how you could customise everything from the dial to the band of the watch. It takes about a month and a half to customise a watch according to your preferences, as the brand sources everything from abroad. So, place your order accordingly.

If the brand could display more watches and include more wearable pieces, they would definitely have something new and exciting on offer. Also remember that pretty watches don’t come cheap! The designs at Spriha are priced between Rs 8,000 and Rs 15,000.
